Early Kustom at Peterson...

Here are a couple more from the Peterson Automotive Museum.  I have seen a few articles on this car before, but it sure was kool to see it in person.....

The photos suck, because of the way the stantions were set up.  It was impossible to get good pictures and the neon made things tough with flash...

I found this online.  I think it may be from the Traditional Rod and Kulture shoot...

Striping for restorers....

Most of the time at car shows and museums, my wife is with me.  To preface my next couple statements, I will say this, so I don't seem like a complete ass...  I love my wife to death and truely enjoy spending time with her.  But many times, having her with me, I don't spend alot of time really looking at whatever we are there for.  It is never my intention to bore her, so I tend to move swiftly through things.  Here is an example.  Ever try and go shopping with your better half???  My wife HATES it when I go with her.  She feels like she can't look around because I keep following her.  We are at Kohls, what am I supposed to look at??  My fat ass isn't interested in skinny jeans, nor would I wear them anyway.  ...  I have a couple of options.  Most of the time, I am bored off my ass, unless there is some sort of tool or automotive department.  And even then, I can only take that for so long.  Men by nature, know what they need, go wherever, make the purchase, and get the hell out of there.  I am getting off track so I will get to the point.

On my recent journey to the Peterson, many things caught my fancy.  I was able to really take my time and "look"..  I stumbled across this restored Packard while I was there.  While I can apprecate the early "horseless carriages", they are not something I usually spend time looking at.  This is what really caught my eye....

For some reason, all of the striping really interested me.  What fascinated me, was the fact they took the time to stripe all this stuff.  It truly shows what kind of time manufacturers took to put a car together...  It is obvious that Packard, like many others, REALLY took pride in what they put out.  I do not have an artistic bone in my body.  I prefer to leave all my striping needs to friends or professionals.  The really funny part is that I didn't even get a picture of the whole car...

Actually, I guess I did....

Who knew???

My lovely wife and I went away for the weekend, a while back.  We wanted to do something for our wedding anniversary.  She was going to a hair show in the Anaheim area on Sunday, and we decided to hit Disneyland for a couple of days on Monday and Tuesday..  No big surprise that I wasn't really crazy about hanging out at a hair show.  So, I came up with a plan to entertain myself for the day.  After all, I was in the Los Angeles area, there are tons of things to do..  I am a big fan of the Peterson Automotive Museum, and hadn't been in a year or so. So I decided I would go the 50 or so miles out of my way to check it out.  I had also researched the closest Bob's Big Boy to my location, but I will cover that later...   I have been there a ton of times, and many of the displays do not change, while others get rotated on a regular basis.  There are different themes that come and go.  The major display when I went was "scooters".  I wasn't crazy about this, but knew it before I went down.  Nothing will ever beat the Kustoms with a "K" display they had a couple of years ago...

At any rate, it was very kool..  I love pretty much anything old anyway, but found a whole new respect for this following.  The one great thing about this display was that there weren't a bunch of the same Vespas, just painted a different color.  Most of it consisted of the "other" manufacters, which I really enjoyed.  Don't let this post fool you, I WILL NOT be collecting scooters.  But sure found a new respect for something that doesn't get much from me...

Popa Wolf's 53 Ford Club Coupe...

I don't know of anyone that didn't LOVE Popa Rich's Mercury.  You could go to just about any West Coast Kustom or Southern Cal show and see his car.  Powered by a early 50's Cadillac V-8 and hydro, it was the epitome of kustom kool....
early photo, but this car was awesome as a finished car...  thought I had a picture..

stole this one from Rich to illustrate how kool this car was finished...

Long story short, here is Rich's 53 Ford club coupe..  Not a surprise, I have a soft spot for these things...  What a kool driver...  (photos are Rich's that he sent to me)
