Kool Hudson at Eagle Field

There was something about this car that really drew me to it.  No, it didn't blister down the track.  No, it didn't launch hard and carry the front wheels past the 60 foot.  As a matter of fact, it may have been one of the slower cars there.  It didn't matter to me, it screamed race car.  I chatted with the old timer for quite a while.  It was made into a race car in the late 50's.  It ran an old Hudson flat 6 powerplant with a hydro.  Over the course of the years he has used several different manifold and carb set ups.  The trans had been gone through a few times.  But otherwise, the car is completely as built in the early 60's.  I wish I had gotton more pictures of it.  It wore a stock dash and interior, with some safety and gauge changes in the 60's.  There was just so much going on here, it blew my mind.  I am pretty sure, this guy does not own a Speedway, Jegs or Summit catalog.  This 13 second 1/4 mile time slip was all done the old fashioned way...

There was a hand written note on the dash.  It said don't rev it more than 4800rpm or bring a basket..
